About 200 people were searching for the body of missing 5-year-old girl Shaniya Davis on Monday.

Investigators have been searching for the young girl for several days following video feed from a hotel showing Shaniya Davis with a man identified as Mario Andrette Mcneill, who has a lengthy rap sheet.

Both the man and the mother are in police custody, but have not been identified as the “reliable” source of information.

Police said they were now acting on “reliable information” that indicated that she may be dead.

The search was focused on land near a roadway because “reliable information received that the body of Shaniya Davis may have been dumped there,” the Fayetteville Police Department said in a statement.

Police have since charged the girl’s mother, Antoinette Nicole Davis, with human trafficking and other offenses.

Other charges  against the mother include felony child abuse, prostitution and filing a false police report, according to the Fayetteville P.D.

Police have since dropped kidnapping charges against another man, Clarence Coe, who was arrested Thursday in connection with the case.
